Why Are Twenty Million People Depressed In The United States

Monday, March 31st, 2008

By Linda Dipman Twenty million people are depressed in the United States alone! Many have lost hope not only in themselves, but in the American Dream. Thoughts of suicide fill their days because of the dread of living yet another day of unhappiness. Why is this happening? Why are people melting away under clouds of hopelessness and fear? Why are they feeling rejected and despised? Why does all the depression medicine in the world seem to be unable to give these people relief? What if our world was a game? What if depression and all suffering was brought on by our failure to understand the rules of how to engage in this life game and win? If this is the case, then not being aware that we are in a battle is not understanding how to fight! Now lets look at this world as if it were a game. As human beings we think about everything. We use our brain in life, school, work, and of course play. If we are in a huge multifaceted game, then shouldn’t our brain be the very center of play? This is where an anomaly is born. Scientist’s have said that as human beings we only use 10 percent of our brains. If this is true, what is the purpose of the other 90 percent? Our brain is our navigation center. While our physical world needs just 10 percent of our brain, our life game needs the other 90 percent to aid us in navigating through this world. Our brain is where we struggle with opposing forces of good and evil. This is where Reason is stored. Reason that gives clear definitions between what is love and what is hate. This is the explanation of why this area of our brain exists. We must believe in God or we must believe in Satan. God is love and helps us by giving us the information we need in order to win our life game. While Satan is the great deceiver, who wants to draw us into temptations that are meant to defeat us and trap us. Sin is the ultimate evil. Sin is not knowing God. Sin defeats God’s plan for our lives. The world is the playing field and when we give ourselves to the world then we give ourselves to Satan. Satan is the god of this world and he wants us to fail to achieve God’s goals for our lives. The Spirit world is the unseen world that functions primarily in our head. Our Spirit guide actively pursues our thoughts and reveals our motives for the things we do in this world. To be on God’s side is to listen to the voice that tells us to care about other people. The voice that inspires us to love our families and to care about people who are suffering in the world. To be on the side of Satan is to listen to the voice that demands that we give into the evil passions of this world. The voice that makes us over indulge in alcohol, drugs, and sexual sins of all kinds that are meant to hurt and control other people. Our third voice is our human desires that direct us to pursue life goals that are found in power, possessions and wealth. It is our human voice of Reason that listens to the spirit world and chooses which side it will follow. Love gives a person strength and directs them down paths of revelation, while hate makes a person just think of themselves. Love gives our lives purpose because we desire to do good. Hate tells us to take advantage of our fellowman and to do whatever it takes to get what we want. Depression stops us in our tracks and is a tool used by Satan to keep us from loving and caring. Depression deceives us into thinking that we can’t win. Depression separates us from God. As a result it causes a condition called “Separation Anxiety” that is meant to keep us in the world and away from God. Separation Anxiety is the result of us trying to win our game of life in the dark. It is a blindness that stops us from coming to a full knowledge of our purpose when we have God in our lives. It is the root cause of depression. To see our world as a complex game is to understand the 90 percent of our brain that scientists have yet to figure out. We must acknowledge the spiritual voices of good and evil and control how we listen to them. We must come to revelations about the function of our brain and learn to listen to the voice of God. We must allow God to direct our lives and use the Bible as a tool to lead us to truth. Truth is being aware of the game of life and the revelation that depression is a demon that is sent to defeat us by Satan. We must cling to God and allow love to influence our thinking so we can win the greatest Game of them all. The Game of Life It’s Almost Over! My name is Linda C Dipman and I am the author of “The Game Of Life It’s Almost Over”. I prove through the Bible and my own life story that we are in a huge multifaceted world game. Soul Mate Myths

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

By Randall Curtis But the cold truth is that most people have never known the inner radiance of their own soul. Instead, they cling to the many myths about the soul mate relationship that are simply not true. These false beliefs need to be understood. Here are just a few. Myth One Many people believe that they will find their soul simply by lookingwishinghoping anddreaming. They feel that somehow this person will come along and make them eternally happy. This is the most naive of all the soul mate myths. Myth Two Others tend to rely upon how much they are attracted to another person to determine if they are their soul mate or not. The truth is that our attractions are very deceiving. The myth is that we can trust our feelings of attraction, as if our feelings are a validation of the facts. Further, the attraction you may have for someone could actually be a fatal attraction without you even realizing it. You may think a person is your soul mate, but you could simply be sexually obsessed with them. To learn more about fatal attractions, check out this book. Myth Three Why are so many of us looking for a soul mate when we don’t have any capacity for true heart intimacy? Even if our soul mate actually does appear, we become so terrified of giving our heart to them that we run 100 miles in the other direction. The unconscious myth here seems to be that we can find our soul mate without surrendering our heart. Myth Four Another myth is that we would recognize our soul mate if we met them. We fail to realize that if our soul mate reflects our soul, and we are unable to feel our own inner radiance — don’t really love ourself or know who we are — then we will be unable to recognize him/her. In act, you could know such a person for years without even recognizing that they are your soul mate. I know this to be true, because it happened to me. So, how do you find your soul mate? If we really do want to find our soul mate, we must realize that we have to awaken to a greater capacity for surrendering our heart. By surrendering our heart, we will know the wound of love as well as the profound sense of intimacy that comes with it. Take the free Soul Mate Test and check out your myths. It may be time to get rid of a few. Randall Curtis is a professional astrologer with world-wide clients, founder of Planetary Psychology, and The Institute of Professional Astrology. Friday, March 28th, 2008

By Kent Pinkerton Troubled teens often with emotional and behavioral disorders lag academically as they are not able to concentrate in their studies. Curriculum for troubled teens is designed to inspire and realize the youth about the importance of education in their lives. Counseling along with behavioral and emotional therapy is also an integral part of the curriculum. Schools which admit troubled teens give extra coaching in different subjects so that they are no left out. Curriculum for troubled teens includes detailed study of subjects such as English, Mathematics, Social Sciences, and Sciences for various grades. Normally the teacher student ratio is 1:8 and maximum individual participation is permitted in the classrooms. Students are given opportunities to communicate with the teacher to solve their problems. Homework is given to make them concentrate more in the academic activities. Weekly evaluation about the progress of the student?s life is also conducted. College preparatory high school curriculum for troubled teens helps students from grade 9 to 12. This also includes courses in English, Social sciences, laboratory science, mathematics, and physical education. Human ecology included in the curriculum of troubled teens helps to develop emotional growth of all the students. A specific number of credits are needed for a student to secure a high school diploma. To earn this diploma, students must complete an English course for four years and mathematics from preliminary standards for three years along with laboratory science, social science, and physical education. Curriculum for troubled teens is also integrated with several preparatory courses for higher studies. Opportunities for students to take advanced placement examinations are given by schools which treat delinquent youth. Preference for physical education classes, various campus and social activities are given in the curriculum for troubled teens to make them participate in a healthy and competitive environment. An Over-view of Risk Management in the Banking

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

By Prabir Sen The characteristics of present banking system is exposed to diverse market and non-market risks, which has put risk management in these sectors to a core functionary within the financial institutions. This has been essentially done to protect not only the interests of the stakeholders, but more obviously, in protection to the shareholders and creditors. The growing economy demands a safe and sound banking system, and as such, risk management has become a critical task for the banking sectors, bringing in stability in the financial markets. A good supervision of all the factors involved, would lead to identifying, assessing, and promoting a secured risk management system. The banking sector is increasingly faced with tougher challenges in meeting various risk management requirements, and no matter how tough it is, the present day operations requires the risk managers to be vigilant, and unusually diligently perceptive towards the causes of protecting the interest of the people concerned. In the practical scenario, risk management is very much fragmented, spread across in pockets, resulting in inconsistency in reporting, inadequate measurements, and poor quality of management. Poor data availability is one of the major causes in inefficient risk management, making it difficult for the bank to manage and control in an institution-wide environment. In order that a consolidated step could be taken towards a better risk management, there has been much interaction between the public and private sectors, with an attempt to evolve techniques, mostly pertinent to the banking sector, which represents the largest and most internationally active industry in the world. Through these deliberations, Basel Committee (BCBS) in Basel, Switzerland, in 1988, came out with Basel I framework proposal, which brought together closer ties between the banks’ capital holding, and the risks that are involved. This brought in higher capital level. The banking sector is growing rapidly, and with its large and complex operations, Basel I have become inadequate in continuing with the improvement of the advanced method of risk management that the banking sectors have today. A more comprehensive guideline was evolved in Basel II. This regulation envisaged that, the banking sector should ensure a proper handling of the capital, separate the operational risk from the credit risk while quantifying both, and distribute capital vis–vis the economic risk. We shall discus Basel I and Basel II in a little more detail in the articles to follow. The basic concept of risk management involves making an assessment of the risk and then developing a strategy to manage that risk. Risks ensuing out of physical or legal causes, such as, natural disasters or fires, accidents, death, and lawsuits, are one of those which are traditionally focused. But, in banking sectors, the focus is mainly on risk factors involved with traded financial instruments. In an ideal situation, the risks concerned with substantial losses and the high probability of its occurrence, are handled first, and given the highest priority in risk management. The lesser probable ones comes next. In doing so, it is quite difficult to maintain the balance between the combination of different scenarios, viz., risks with a high probability of occurrence but lower loss vs. a risk with high loss but lower probability of occurrence. In meeting the basic characteristics in banking sectors, there is a need to provide human and financial resources through-out the organisation, enough to meet the purpose of an effective compliance risk management system. In proving such resources, it is necessary to delegate proper authority and independence in the working method. There needs to be a sense of ‘ownership’ in the compliance function, in order that the organisation can keep itself focused on its compliance risk management responsibility. A comprehensive database should be in place, along with monitoring and measuring of the risks involved in any kind of circumstances, which, in combination, may provide meaningful reports based on the laws and regulations governing compliance risks, associated with existing or new products, and new business activities. The banking sector need to understand operational risk exposure at the organisational level, where the concerned risk factors are consolidated into one, making it somewhat easier to have a verification of operational risk involved. We shall examine in the consequent articles the problems that banking sector finds most difficult to address, which are deficient in the current methodology used. There are gaps in analysis of risk elements in the current procedures adapted, in establishing risk management and risk control. prabirsenuk@yahoo.co.uk Over twenty two years experience in Oracle. Party For Both Hosts And Guests- It’s Plastic Time

Monday, March 24th, 2008

By Jeff Bossak It is true that people toss parties to celebrate a special occasion like a Birthday Party or a wedding Reception. However, in the preparation of making the party amazing for the guests, the hosts suddenly find that they are, in no way, involved in the party celebration. It is a common sight that hosts remain miserably deprived of the party enjoyments. The solace, they try to construct, is the arrangements were for guests and they are enjoying. Nevertheless, one should not forget that the party is as much for the host as it is for the guests, or, all the preparations go in vain and the party remains an unsuccessful one. Only a host can imagine how much trouble he or she had to undergo (at least for weeks, moving from door to door) to plan, collect and arrange the best assortment in respect to the party-theme. The after-party scenario is more pathetic for the hosts, counting the number of broken china plates and calculating the refund amount or cleaning the dishes and other articles overnight to return to various suppliers. However, days are changing. The hosts are relying more on plastic cups, cutlery and plates for they come in various shapes and colors to match the theme. These articles are cheap but durable. The hosts can even re-use them in the next party. A spokesperson from a full service online retailer and catering supplier said that they supply plastic dishes that look just like china and cost a mere fraction of what rentals do. Apart from saving the hard-earned cash, it also saves the hosts precious time, as they are available online. Online Party and catering Supplies are highly on demand these days around the globe. From tablecloths, tableware to serving trays, all are only in a mouse-click distance. They can offer cheap pricing because of lower overhead costs as compared to large department store chains and similar retailers. Many hosts are worried about actual color and quality of the online product range (one cannot ignore the fake online retailers). If the host is in any doubt about a product, they may ask for a sample at no extra cost. Therefore, it is really the time to party even for the hosts. Go ahead and enjoy. Jeff Bossak is a freelance writer and has years of first-hand experience in the field of Birthday party and wedding Reception supplies that has given him the best idea of the changing scenario of the market. Getting Those Family Photos Out of the Shoebox and Into Your Life

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

By Lisa Koosis Once upon a time, family photos ended up in shoeboxes or maybe, for the ultra-organized, within the pages of a photo album, collecting dust. How easy it is to forget precious pictures when they’re out of sight. These days, particularly with the coming-of-age of the digital camera, there are many more things you can do with those family photos. So don’t stuff them in a box where they’ll remain unseen and unorganized. Instead, why not check out some great ways to get your favorite family photos seen. Many photo processing labs offer special services that go far beyond turning your yearly family portrait into a Christmas card. Now you can get such things as calendars created from your photographs, or putting your photos on mugs. If you’ve gone digital — or if you have a scanner hooked up to your computer — you can even order many of these things, and much, much more, online at places like Snapfish and Cafepress. All you’ll need to do is upload your photo, or photos, of choice, and select the merchandise you wish to purchase. The choices are many, from Christmas ornaments to wooden boxes, from tee-shirts to tote bags. For those who are more adventurous and/or creative, there are a number of creative do-it-yourself options for photographs as well. If you check out either your local craft store or office supply store, you’ll often find a section dedicated to special photo papers. For example, you can purchase a special kind of canvas that can be run through a printer. If you have photo editing software on your home PC, you can use special effects to turn your photo into a watercolor, and print it out on canvas to be hung in your home. You can also purchase transfer paper that will allow you to print your photo on your home printer and then transfer it, using no more than a hot iron and a towel, to tee-shirts or tote bags or any other cotton-based fabric. It’s easy and it’s a great way to bring your favorite photos to life. But what if you’re not interested in more clutter? Well why not upload your photos to a photo-sharing website — your favorite search engine will turn up more than a few — and share your photos with family and friends all over the world? Many photo editing software also comes with a slideshow option which allows you to view your photos as a slideshow right on your computer screen. You can often email the slideshows as well, so that other family members and friends can enjoy it. Or why not set them up as a screensaver for your computer. You can update and change them whenever you feel like a change. Truly, the options for your photos are as limitless as your creativity. So don’t stuff those photos into an old shoebox. Transform them into something usable and wonderful, something that will be seen and enjoyed on a regular basis. Lisa is an author on http://www.Writing.Com/ which is a site for Poetry. Lawn Care - Using Mulch for Decorative Purposes!

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

By Terry Blackburn There are many ways to use mulch for decorative purposes. Trees If you have a group of trees on your lawn that you want to give a little class to, you can add mulch. Choose darker mulch for lighter trees, and lighter shades for darker trees. The first step is to create a shape around the trees so that you will know where to place the mulch. You can do this using string or wood blocks. You should create a shape that is not a perfect circle, but one that will showcase your trees. Take your time to get the shape right. You can decide how far from the trees you will want to go or how close. After creating a shape, you will need to rake inside the area and remove all grass and weeds. This will give you a clean work area. You should put down landscape fabric or black plastic before putting down the mulch. This will help you control the weeds. Pulling weeds from mulch is not fun and can take a long time. Try to reduce the weeds as much as possible. Now it is time to put down the mulch. Spread an even amount of mulch into the shape you have created with a rake and make sure you cover it completely. Maintain the mulch as you would any other type of mulch. Flower beds When creating a flower bed, you should make sure that you aerate the soil first and then use Soil Solarization to kill all weed seeds. You can choose to plant your flowers at this point, or you can wait until you have put down your landscape fabric. After planting, place a layer of mulch on the bed. Rocks Placing mulch around rocks can give your lawn a clean, polished look that will cultivate vine growth. Planting creeping vines and other vines around rocks will give your lawn a rustic, country look that will last for a long time. You do not have to use landscape fabric, but you should be prepared to weed the area. Mulch should be replaced every few months. You should keep the mulch clean and weed the areas before the weed grow too big. Each year, you should till the soil to get rid of debris and weeds that have not had a chance to grow. Understanding Weight Loss

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

By Ken Shorey A pound of fat represents approximately 3500 calories of storedenergy. In order to lose a pound of fat, you have to use 3500more calories than you consume. Although this seems like asimple formula remember that your body is a thinking organismdesigned to protect itself. If you were to try to reduce your intake by the entire 3500 calories in one day, your body would register some type ofalarm and think that there is a state of emergency. Immediately your metabolism would slow down and no weight loss would be achieved. It’s better to spread your weight loss out over a period of a week, so that you aim to reduce your caloric intake by 3500 to 7000 calories per week, resulting in weight loss of one to two pounds per week. It’s generally not recommended to try to lose more than two pounds in a week. Attempting to do so may cause health risks, and on top of this you’re unlikely to be successful. In the example of attempting to lose two pounds per week, youcan use a basic method of calorie counting to help youaccomplish your goal. To do so, you need to figure out how manycalories a person of your age, sex, and weight usually needs ina day, subtract 500 from that amount, and follow a diet thatprovides you with that many calories. For example, if you would ordinarily need 3000 calories in aday, you would follow a 2500-calorie a day diet. Next, figure out how much exercise a person of your weight would need to do to burn 500 calories per day, and engage in an exercise plan that will help you achieve your goal. The result is simple: 500 fewer calories consumed and 500more calories expended equals a 1000 calorie per day deficit, which, over the course of a week adds up to 7000 calories, ortwo pounds. Although individual results may vary, the bottomline is if your body is consuming fewer calories than it’sexpending, then weight will be lost. ********************************************************************* Ken Shorey is owner of http://vibranthealthnow.com VibrantHealthnow.com provides ebooks and informationto help you improve your health. ********************************************************************* Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Ken_Shorey http://EzineArticles.com/?Understanding-Weight-Loss&id=13233 zolpidem web page ambien and high blood pressure online cheap ambien ambien side affect

Aromatherapy: Revive Your Senses

Monday, March 17th, 2008

By Robert Thatcher The art of aromatherapy had been practiced since the earliest times. Strong evidences were found to link aromatherapy to ancient traditions. Though aromatic oils had been used to treat and cure various ailments and conditions for who knows how long, the formal study on their properties only started in the year 1928. In its simplest form, aromatherapy is the use of essential plant oils for therapeutic purposes. They are normally employed to relieve a person from stress and a variety of stress-related conditions. And also for promoting an individual’s general well being and in invigorating the body and the psyche. Aromatherapy works by inducing the olfactory nerve cells with aromatic oils, which then carries out the message to the limbic system in the brain. Limbic system is the part of the brain that is responsible for controlling memory and emotions. Aromatherapy is concerned in both the workings of the physical and emotional aspects of the person under treatment. Physically, aromatherapy helps in relieving specific conditions trough the stimulation of the nervous, immune and circulatory system. In emotions however, they may evoke pleasant memories. Yet, the medical circles do not agree if aromatherapy in itself is instrumental to the complete healing of a certain condition. But the idea of recovery through aromatherapy is widely accepted. Essential Oils Essential oils are derived from the distillation of the elements of a plant like the leaves, roots, flowers, stems and bark. They hold the true essence of the plants from which they originally came in high concentration. Though termed as oil, essential oils normally do not have the real properties of oil. Some essential oils are yellow like that of the lemongrass and orange and many are clear. These oils are used in a variety of methods: through inhalation, by adding them in the bathwater and by the application of the diluted oil on the body. The use of oil in aromatherapy is only restricted to those with unadulterated qualities. The purest of the essential oils alone have the therapeutic values. The following is a list of the most common essential oils used in aromatherapy. Some of which are used as carrier oils (also known as vegetable oils or base oils): - Almond, Sweet - Apricot Kernel - Avocado - Borage - Cocoa Butter - Evening Primrose - Grapeseed - Hazelnut - Jojoba - Kukui - Macadamia Nu - Olive - Peanut - Pecan - Rose Hip - Sesame - Shea Butter - Sunflower Below are listed essential oils that are not advisable to use in aromatherapy, especially if not supervised by a professional aromatherapy practitioner. - Ajowan - Almond, Bitter - Arnica - Birch, Sweet - Boldo Leaf - Broom, Spanish - Calamus - Camphor - Deertongue - Garlic - Horseradish - Jaborandi - Melilotus - Mugwort - Mustard - Onion - Pennyroyal - Rue - Sassafras - Thuja - Wintergreen - Wormseed - Wormwood Aromatherapists put into practice the workings of aromatherapy in a spectrum of work environments including: - private practice - mobile visiting practice - natural health clinics - beauty therapy clinics - health clubs - hospitals - hospices and - nursing homes In spite of the lack of formal research on aromatherapy therapists and European physicians are often prescribing certain aromatic oils for a range of complaints including colds and flu, insomnia, sinusitis, migraines, digestive problems and muscle pains. It must be understood though that aromatic oils must never be taken orally and should be first tested to determine the degree of skin’s sensitivity to some oils. The Top 5 Model Train Accessories

Saturday, March 15th, 2008

By B. Murphy Many people’s first introduction to model railroading happens when they put together a simple circle or oval on a sheet of plywood. Theres no backdrop of any kind, and there may not be buildings or vehicles to provide any kind of realistic background. For those who become passionate about it, however, adding accessories to the railroad become necessary as they strive for realism. For enthusiasts, this can become a lifelong hobby, and can grow exponentially as they continue. Every layout is different and everyone has favored accessories, but the following 5 accessories are some of the most common. They will add realism to your model railroad and make it more interesting to use. 1. Train Station Most people add this to their layout as one of the first accessories. It gives the railroad both a beginning and ending, and may be the locus around which to build an entire town or city, eventually. 2. Lighting There are many ways to light a railroad. Background lighting can add a degree of realism, or street lights may add atmosphere to your city. The lights may be strictly decorative, or they may actually provide lighting for nighttime scenes. 3. Rail Cars The locomotive comes first and is often the focal point of any railroad setup, but rail cars will let you expand the look and length of your train. There are many kinds available. 4. People and Animals A city or rail yard wouldnt be complete without people included as a necessary part of the scenery. And if your railroads track travels through mountains or countryside scenery, animals also add realism to the backdrop. 5. Landscaping You can provide landscape for a railroad in endless ways. Add things like grass, trees, lakes or rivers to the background and scenery. For more detail, add hills and valleys for your train to travel through. You can even include tunnels going through the mountains. Bill Murphy writes about various model train related topics such as garden railroads on the Zogol.com website.
